Before being ordained a Minister in the Uniting Church in Australia in 2011, Brendan Byrne worked variously as a trade union official, a clerk in a 24 hour convenience store bb1(nightshifts and graveyards), and as a securities officer for a major Australian financial institution. He is committed to developing a ministry to work that enables Christians to possess an integrative theology of work through which they can connect their lives of faith to their experience of work; as well as enable the wider Church to once again re-establish its historical connections with working people of all classes and backgrounds, through which the dignity of the human person may be asserted over against the claims of various economic and industrial systems of organisation.

Brendan Byrne is married with a daughter, and is a supporter of the Tokyo Sunwolves (go Wolfies!).
